Minister must deliever new Braid Valley Health & Care Centre - McKay
North Antrim Sinn Féin MLA Daithí McKay has said that there can be no excuses for the Health Minister not delivering the new Braid Valley Health & Care Centre by 2011. Mr McKay was speaking after questioning the Health Minister on the matter at the Assembly.
Mr McKay said:
"Late last year there was widespread public concern within North Antrim that the new Health & Care Centre at the Braid Valley site in Ballymena would not be delivered due to deficiencies in the Health Budget. When the Health Minister responded to myself before Christmas he indicated that delivery would be subject to 'the availability of the requisite capital and revenue resources'.
"I think it is now clear that the appropriate financial resources are available for the Minister to complete this project and he has now stated that the Department are on course to finish this piece of work by 2011.
"Sinn Féin's focus will now be on ensuring that there is no slippage on the commitment to build this much-needed facility over the next 3 years. The Minister has the capital resources, he has the revenue resources and there can be no excuses - he has to deliver." ENDS.
