McLaughlin condemns Toome arson attack
Sinn Féin representative Mitchel McLaughlin MLA (South Antrim) has condemned an arson attack on a car in Toome in the early hours of Saturday and the attempted burning of another car used to transport a severely disabled man.
Mitchel McLaughlin said:
"Those responsible for burning a car in Toome and attempting to burn another that is used for the benefit of a person with severe disabilities have nothing to offer the community and must be apprehended and brought before the courts.
"While I call on anyone with any information to make it available to the PSNI I am concerned that the owner of the burnt out vehicle has described the attitude of the Police who attended the scene as unenthusiastic and uninterested in carrying out any kind of investigation.
"I find this attitude from the PSNI less than helpful at a time when Sinn Féin is doing all it can to encourage people to assist the police in tackling criminality in the community. I will be asking my colleague on the DPP, Councillor Annemarie Logue to demand answers at the next Partnership meeting." ENDS
