Armagh shooting unacceptable – Boylan
Commenting on a shooting incident in the Mullacreevie Park estate in Armagh city, in which a 23 year old male was shot in the legs and back, local Sinn Féin MLA Cathal Boylan has said, 'Whatever the motive for this shooting, we must all resolve to create the circumstances and society where this type of incident no longer occurs'.
Mr Boylan said:
"I know a number of people who live in Mullacreevie personally; they have contacted me to express their shock that an incident like this, which they thought was in the past, has taken place in such a public fashion. Of course details are still emerging, but local people believe criminal elements are involved. The losers in all this are the local community who have to put up with such activity. Those who carried out this attack had scant regard for the safety of the residents of Mullacreevie who may have strayed upon this incident.
"I believe we must ensure the community is supported in its attempts to bring an end to such activities by all political and statutory agencies to help bring about a society in which incidents like this will be a thing of the past." ENDS
