Boylan asks for Interconnector opposition groups to be heard by DoE Committee
The Stormont Environment Committee is to meet in the Market Place theatre, Armagh City on the 19th June. Local Sinn Féin MLA, Cathal Boylan has successfully requested that representatives of local opposition groups to the proposed North - South Electricity Interconnector be allowed to give evidence to the Committee when they are in the City.
"I feel it is important that all members of the Committee get to hear first hand from local residents their concerns about this issue,' said the Vice Chair of the Environment Committee.
"The geographical spread of Committee members means many of them are probably unaware of the local campaign and the depth of opposition among residents. Hopefully, after hearing the concerns from the committed, voluntary activists who are leading the anti-pylon campaign, Committee members will become more acquainted with the issue and raise the concerns within the Assembly. We need a united front on this issue and I hope this initiative will go some way to achieving that." ENDS
