Ferris calls for extension of slurry spreading deadline
The Sinn Féin Spokesperson on Agriculture, Martin Ferris TD, appealed in the Dáil this afternoon for the deadline for the spreading of farm slurry to be extended until December 31st. The Kerry North TD said the Department had already extended it to the end of October and a further extension is crucial given the impact of the bad weather this year.
Deputy Ferris said: "In extending the deadline beyond mid October, the Minister has already recognised that something needed to be done in relation to this issue. I would therefore appeal to him to once again put the date back in order that the many, many farmers who have been unable to complete this work due to the terrible weather, might be given an opportunity to do so before the end of the year."
