Sinn Fein welcome Consumer Council / Utility Regulator research
Sinn Fein MLA and Vice Chair of the Committee for Enterprise Trade & Investment Jennifer Mc Cann, has welcomed the news that the Consumer Council and the Utility regulator are to carry out joint research with the aim of making people aware of schemes available from energy companies to help them manage their bills.
Speaking today Ms McCann said:
"The fact that this research is being carried out with the aim of making people aware of schemes available from energy companies to help them manage their bills is good news.
"Currently the economic climate sees many people struggling to make ends meet. Recent price increases across the board have led to financial management difficulties being placed upon the vulnerable, unemployed, pensioners, and working families.
"Awareness is key. If customers of energy companies know precisely what is available in terms of helping them utilise the most from the energy they use, and the way they pay for it, they will get the best from the service and ultimately take pressure off them."
