Sinn Féin to hold Assembly members planning day

9 September, 2010 - by Pat Sheehan, John O'Dowd

Sinn Féín Assembly members including Gerry Adams, Martin McGuinness and Mary Lou McDonald will be joined by senior party activists from across the six counties and colleagues from the Dail tomorrow for a planning day in advance of the resumption of the Assembly on Monday.

The day will concentrate on the political programme between now and May, the campaign to resist British Tory cuts and protect frontline services including all-Ireland integration and reports from the United Ireland Taskforce.

The meeting will take place in the Tí Chuilan Centre, Mullabawn, South Armagh.

Speaking today in advance of the meeting, Sinn Féin Assembly Group Leader John O’Dowd said:

“Tomorrow the Assembly group will be joined by party activists from across the six counties, colleagues from Leinster House and other senior party leaders.

“It will provide us an opportunity to plan our political programme through to the May elections and put effective measures in place to resist the Tory cuts and protect our frontline public services.

“We will also be receiving updates on the work of the United Ireland Taskforce including further planning for all-Ireland integration.” ENDS
