Ruane to accompany Loughlinisland families to meet Ombudsman

3 February, 2011 - by Caitríona Ruane

Minister Catriona Ruane MLA (South Down) will accompany the Loughinisland families, their legal team represented by Niall Murphy, Mark Thompson of RFJ and Paul O'Connor of the PFC to meet with the Police Ombudsman, Al Hutchinson tomorrow.

Speaking in advance of the meeting Caitríona Ruane said:
"I will be supporting the families in expressing their deep concern about the long delay in the publication of the report into the massacre in Loughinisland. It has been a very long and difficult time for the families who are frustrated and angry at the delays.

"The Loughlinisland Families have conducted themselves with dignified patience throughout the years since their loved ones were so brutally murdered. They deserve to be treated with the utmost respect and I believe that they are entitled to know the findings of this report withoput any further delay. I will be expressing these feelings to the Ombudsman when we meet tomorrow.
