Praise for Suffolk & Lenadoon interface group
Sinn Féin MLA and Junior Minister Jennifer McCann has praised the work that local community organisations do in interface areas.
Speaking during a visit to SLIG (Suffolk and Lenadoon Interface Group) this morning the West Belfast MLA said:
“As we approach the time of year which sees a number of contentious marches raising community tensions, it is important to recognise the valuable work that groups like SLIG do in interface areas throughout the year.
“The significant contribution local community activists make to building relationships and bringing people together, particularly young people, must be recognised.
“The Executive are in the process of establishing an all-party group which will consider and make recommendations on matters such as parades, flags, symbols and emblems.
“We hope to draw on the experience of people who have worked on interface projects for many years to find solutions to the problems that result in raising community tensions.”
