Unemployment key issue in South East Economic Development Plan - David Cullinane
Sinn Féin Senator David Cullinane today presented a draft of the South East Economic Development Plan (SEEDS) to the Joint Oireachtas Committee on Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation.
Speaking after the presentation Senator Cullinane said;
“The Report is the culmination of months of consultations, hearings and research. The strategy examines the regions strengths and weaknesses, makes over 100 clear recommendations and urges action on all fronts. The draft report examines in detail the high regional unemployment rates.
“The low levels of educational attainment, and the fall off in activity in both Rosslare Europort and the port of Waterford and activity at the regional airport.
“Each and every recommendation in the Report is practical and deliverable. Some are immediate others are long-term.
“I wish to sincerely thank all those who inputted into the document. It was tough work getting there but hopefully it will be worth it in the end.
“The next step is to get all-Party agreement and it will become an official Oireachtas strategy.
The priority will be to get as many of the actions implemented as possible.”
