Praise for work of PIPS and others – Jennifer McCann
Sinn Féin MLA and Junior Minister Jennifer McCann has praised local
community organisations for providing life saving support services to
those who need it most.
Speaking ahead of a visit to PIPS (Public Initiative for the
Prevention of Suicide) in North Belfast today, the West Belfast MLA said:
"Suicide and the devastating legacy it leaves for families is a
serious concern and challenge for our community as a whole.
“Very often those working in the community and voluntary sector are the
first point of call for people who find themselves in distress.
“Organisations like PIPS provide a crucial resource for the people of
North Belfast and beyond, delivering life-saving support services to
those who need them most.
“They provide immediate support to families bereaved through suicide
and together with other community led initiatives they are pivotal in making a difference to one of the biggest challenges we face in society."
