Labour attacks on Sinn Féin show signs of election desperation –Lynn Boylan
Sinn Féin Dublin EU candidate Lynn Boylan was joined by her Campaign Manager and Deputy Leader of Sinn Féin Mary Lou McDonald TD this morning to lodge her nomination papers in advance of the European and local elections on May 23rd.
Responding to questions put to her by the media Lynn Boylan said:
“With the local and European elections just a few weeks away government party HQs are clearly beginning to panic as their candidates are faced with real anger at the doors. Labour’s most recent lines of attack against Sinn Féin are particularly desperate reflecting their abysmal performance in government.
“Sinn Féin’s candidates if elected to the EU Parliament will stand up for Ireland in Europe. Recent polls indicate Sinn Féin’s political grouping GUE/NGL may be the third largest in the EU Parliament. Labour, Fine Gael and Fianna Fáil MEPs along with their political groupings have copper fastened austerity, failed to adequately invest in real economic stimulus, are dismantling public service provision and have protected bondholders at every turn.
“Ireland, just like many other EU countries, is struggling with high levels of unemployment and low levels of investment.
“Citizens need serious parliamentarians who will fight their corner in Europe alongside progressive political parties.”
