People power can end water charges – Adams

31 October, 2014 - by Gerry Adams TD

Speaking in advance of mass regional protests against the introduction of water charges, Sinn Féin President Gerry Adams TD said:

“This government, like it’s predecessor, has embraced the policies of austerity and sought to place additional costs on struggling workers, families and communities.

“It is clear that citizens across the state cannot afford to pay these water charges. Yet the government is pressing ahead with their plan. However the government must listen to its citizens. I believe that people power can and will end water charges.

“I am calling on people to join their local Right2Water protests on Saturday, 1st November. Together we can end these charges.”
