Commissioner Hogan should apologise for his role in creating shambolic Irish Water- Lynn Boylan
Sinn Féin MEP Lynn Boylan has called on Commissioner Phil Hogan to apologise to the Irish people for his role in creating the monstrosity that is Irish Water.
Speaking today Lynn Boylan said:
“Environment Minister Alan Kelly’s comments regarding his predecessor and “how he could have done better”, were quite telling and demonstrate that even Fine Gael’s partners in government believe that Phil Hogan left a huge mess in his wake.
The paltry measures introduced by the government yesterday are clearly a desperate attempt to cling to power for the next year and Irish citizens will not be fooled by this. This government is still forging ahead with water charging, the water metering programme will continue, metered charges are coming in and they are still unwilling to hold a referendum to ensure that water is not privatised.
It is not so much that the then Minister Hogan, “could have done better,” as an elected public servant he should have done better and while the government scramble to prop up its flailing quango, Sinn Féin is encouraging everyone opposed to the charges to come out on December the 10th and support the Right2Water protest.”
