Health minister must clarify admissions policy – McMullan

25 November, 2014 - by Oliver McMullan

Sinn Féin MLA Oliver McMullan has called on the health minister to clarify his position on admissions to the MS respite unit at Dalriada Hospital.

The East Antrim MLA said;

"The Northern Trust and the health minister have said there will be no new admissions to the MS respite unit at Dalraida Hospital but they have not stated clearly what is meant by that.

"Patients who are planning to use the facility in the coming months are very concerned about the future of the unit.

"They need to know whether this vital facility, which has served them well, will continue to be available.

"I have tabled an urgent written question to the health minister asking if all of those who have already made bookings for this respite unit for January, February and March of 2015 will be able to use the facility.

"The minister needs to clarify this as a matter of urgency."
