Sinn Féin Cllr Danny O Brien welcomes South Dublin County Council decision to fund the sports pavilion programme
Sinn Féin South Dublin County Cllr (SDCC) Danny O Brien has today welcomed the decision of SDCC to fund the sports pavilion programme to the tune of €300,000 for 2015 and €300,000 for 2016 under a three year capital plan.
Speaking this evening after the meeting Cllr O Brien said:
“This capital injection will fund two pavilions in the county, one for each year.
“These pavilions are badly needed in our parks for children and adults to change and shower instead of the containers that are used at present. The area where the first pavilions will be built has not been decided yet, but I will be lobbying the council for the first one to be built in the Lucan area”.
Lucan has been let down by previous county councillors as all areas have received funding for sports programmes and swimming pools, while Lucan has been left behind. To have the first pavilion in Lucan would be a small step in the right direction in building a proper sports infrastructure.”
