Cllr McGrattan gives cautious welcome to prospective Dalymount Park deal
Dublin City councillor Séamas McGrattan has given a cautious welcome to prospective purchase of Dalymount Park by Dublin City Council. Cllr McGrattan played a leading role in the protection of the pitch area of Dalymount during the establishment of the Phibsboro Area Plan in 2008. He has also worked closely with the Council management on any potential upgrade of Dalymount as chair of the Council's Sports Committee.
Speaking today about reports that the deal is due to be confirmed Cllr McGrattan said:
“While I welcome any potential upgrade of facilities at Dalymount we must also be mindful of the concerns Bohemian and Shelbourne fans regarding the deal. We must also be aware of any concerns local residents may have.
I will wait and see how much the Council intends to allocate to fund the redevelopment and I hope the government will throw their support behind any equitable and fair development plan that seeks to upgrade sport facilities in the area.”
