Health minister must secure future of Dalriada Hospital – McKay
Sinn Féin MLA Daithí McKay has said the Health Minister should provide an assurance that the controversial proposal to close Dalriada Hospital is not revisited upon the community in the year ahead.
The North Antrim MLA was speaking after asking the Health Minister if the proposed closure would be included in the 2015/16 Health budget.
Daithí McKay said:
"It is not good enough for the health minister to continue giving elusive answers to questions about the future of Dalriada.
“What the people here want is an absolute assurance that closure is off the Northern Trust agenda and off it for good.
"Jim Wells has got a significant financial uplift in this budget and a small portion of that must be set aside to secure the future of the Dal.
"This rural community, as he knows, is no soft touch and if he is looking for savings for his 2015/16 budget then he'd better look elsewhere."
