Cllr Ní Dhálaigh attends Clúid Housing Launch
This morning, Cllr Críona Ní Dhálaigh, deputising for Lord Mayor Christy Burke, attended the Clúid Housing Association launch of the St. Mary’s Mansions regeneration project.
Speaking this morning after the launch Cllr Ní Dhálaigh said:
“I welcome that Clúid will be refurbishing 56 badly needed social housing units in St Mary’s Mansions.
The funding mechanism used will be a mixture of government and European Investment Bank (EIB) funding in conjunction with the Housing Finance Agency.
Sinn Féin has been calling on the government to use different funding models including EIB funding and the Strategic Investment Fund.
Sinn Féin Dublin city councillors have been calling on Dublin City Council to establish an arms- length housing body.
This body would be able to borrow from sources like the EIB and could then develop, build and refurbish social housing units independent of the national debt.
Clúid has demonstrated today that this funding mechanism can deliver.”
Cllr Ní Dhálaigh then reiterated:
“It is extremely important that local authorities are able to access additional funding to deliver social housing projects across the city.”
