Cllr Denise Mitchell outraged at jailing of water meter protesters
Dublin Sinn Féin city councillor for Beaumont Donaghmede ward Denise Mitchell has expressed her outrage at the sentencing today of five anti-water charges protesters.
Cllr Mitchell said:
"It is shocking that five water protesters have been committed to prison for peacefully protesting against the installation of water meters.
I have stood with these protesters daily in my own area and they have always conducted themselves in a peaceful manner.
This is just another attempt to break up the Anti-Water Tax movement. Communities are appalled at their jailing and will continue to fight this unjust, unfair tax"
