Irish Water must get serious about first leak scheme- Cllr Carney Boud

20 February, 2015 - by Cathleen Carney Boud

Dublin Sinn Féin city councillor Cathleen Carney Boud has called on Irish Water to accept responsibility and to get serious about the first leak scheme.

 Cllr Carney Boud said:

"A local couple with two children have had a dramatic decrease in the supply of water to their home following works done by Irish Water on a neighbour’s pipes.

Irish Water has failed to acknowledge that it is responsible and is continuously claiming that the problem is due to a side leak on the owner’s property which it does not fix.

It is quite obvious that the works done to fix the neighbours leak have resulted in the water supply disruption to this home. I have asked Irish Water to provide a written report on their investigations that proves otherwise.

Instead it contacted the home owner again to investigate and -again- its reply stated the rhetoric that a ‘side leak’ is not its responsibility.

The feeble reply from Irish Water is simply not good enough and it needs to take responsibility."

“A weak promise stating that the first leak fix scheme is rolling out ‘soon,’ means nothing to a family with two children who have had little or no water for the last three months”

Irish Water must get serious about this ‘First Fix’ scheme which they announced nine months ago and still fail to provide”
