Council add to parking nightmare in Lamb's Cross, Sandyford – Cllr Chris Curran
Sinn Féin Councillor for Sandyford Glencullen Chris Curran, has slammed Dùn Laoghaire Rathdown County Council for its failure to deal with the on-going parking issues at Lamb's Cross.
Cllr Curran said:
"The success of Sandyford Community centre and the additional numbers attending classes has seen a huge increase in parking.
The centre can only facilitate 17 vehicles with other spots available in a local school and golf centre. The problem is that centre users are being forced to park illegally and local businesses are losing trade because customers cannot park outside.
Last year the council took some action and completed some minor footpath realignment outside the shops but the measures haven't worked and fall short of the requirement.
The parking situation is an un-necessary source of local agitation and resolvable with the will of the council.
The council need to take full responsibility for this problem. It's the only organisation with the resources to provide an adequate solution.
Notably, the council owned land immediately opposite the community centre and despite numerous approaches from the community and local business people, the council refuse use of its land to solve a problem caused its own community centre.
Curran is calling on the senior council officials to meet with stakeholders, listen to their concerns and demonstrate the council's skill and ability to deliver an innovative solution. “
