Ó Donnghaile welcomes Gaeltacht Quarter funding

29 July, 2015 - by Mairead O’Donnell

Sinn Féin councillor Niall Ó Donnghaile has welcomed funding to support the continued growth of Belfast's Gaeltacht Quarter.

Councillor Ó Donnghaile said;

"Belfast's Gaeltacht Quarter has grown dramatically in recent years and is now at the heart of the cultural life of the city.

"I welcome the fact that its continued growth is being supported by major investment with up to £30 million in capital funding pledged by 2018.

"£21 million of that is already been secured or offered to fund major projects throughout the Gaeltacht Quarter including sports buildings, Áras na bhFál, new buildings for Coláiste Feirste and Raidió Fáilte and a new centre for handball.

"And we are hopeful of further major projects in the future.

"This is part of Sinn Féin's wider commitment to supporting arts, education and leisure throughout the Gaeltacht Quarter to provide services for the Irish language community and enhance the cultural life of the city."
