Cllr Nic Cormaic highlights Irish Water incompetence in Levmoss

30 November, 2015 - by Sorcha Nic Cormaic

Cllr. Sorcha Nic Cormaic has criticised Irish Water for leaving families without water after it sought to install water meters on private property.

Cllr Nic Cormaic said:

“On Friday morning contractors working on behalf of Irish Water entered the Levmoss site.  They arrived without having sought permission from residents. Levmoss is privately owned, and managed independently by a property management company”.

Nic Cormaic continued

“After learning the works were not permitted the contractors, having commenced work, left the site.  Residents subsequently learned that the contractors had disconnected the water supply and had left before turning it back on. A number of residents effected by this contacted plumbers, incurring callout charges, only to be told that the issue was an external problem.

I’m calling on Irish Water to apologise to the residents of Levmoss, who lost their water supply, and to reimburse residents who incurred costs as a result of their mistake”.
