British government should release McGurk's Bar bombing documents - Kelly
Sinn Féin MLA Gerry Kelly has called on the British government to release all documentation on the McGurk's Bar bombing.
Speaking as relatives of the victims of the McGurk's Bar bombing travelled to Westminster today to lobby politicians and human rights lawyers, Mr Kelly said;
"The families of the 15 people who were killed in the McGurk's Bar bombing in December 1971 are in London today as we approach the 44th anniversary of the bomb.
"Since the bombing the British government has continued to frustrate the attempts of the families to get justice.
"Firstly the RUC failed miserably to properly investigate the bombing and then the HET failed when re-examining the case.
"Undaunted, the families have continued to campaign for justice for more than four decades as the British government continues to hide behind the bogus excuse of national security.
"They are now calling on the British government to release all documentation on the bombing and the subsequent cover-up.
"Sinn Féin will continue to support the McGurk's Bar families in their campaign for truth and justice."
