Why did Paisley and Kinihan receive tickets
North Antrim Sinn Féin MLA Daithí McKay has said it was highly insensitive of MPs Ian Paisley and Danny Kinihan to 'treat themselves' to rugby World Cup seats at the behest of JTI whilst workers continue to deal from the fallout of the closure of the factory.
Mr McKay said
"At a time when a company like JTI is pulling out of Ballymena to follow cheaper labour elsewhere in Europe it was highly insensitive and indeed foolish for the local MP to treat himself to rugby tickets from this company.
"This multi-national company pulled out to chase after lower cost labour alternatives, a fact recited over and over by local trade union representatives. The question Ian Paisley needs to answer to workers and to his constituents is exactly what were these tickets for?" ENDS
