Make numbers visible in rural areas to help emergency services - McMullan
Sinn Féin MLA Oliver McMullan has called for people in rural areas to make it easier for emergency services by making their house numbers clearly visible.
Mr McMullan said;
"In rural areas it can be difficult at times to find the exact address you're looking for but the problem becomes even more acute for emergency services.
"Houses can be set more than a hundred yards from roads and one house could be miles away from a neighbouring house.
"For emergency response services such as ambulances and fire crews every second counts when responding to an emergency call.
"It was a hard-fought campaign to get a first-response defibrillation service into rural areas such as the Glens.
"We now want to ensure that service is as efficient as it can be, saving as many lives as possible.
"I would encourage people in rural areas to ensure that their houses are numbered and, if possible, that the numbers are visible from the road.”
