Doherty’s attack on Sinn Féin health plan demonstrates lack of fiscal knowledge – O’Rourke
Sinn Féin’s Meath East election candidate Councillor Darren O’Rourke has challenged Fine Gael TD Regina Doherty to a debate on his party’s plan for universal health care which was launched yesterday.
Cllr. O’Rourke issued the challenge today after Deputy Doherty issued what he described as a ridiculous attack on his party’s plan to the media today.
“Quite clearly Regina Doherty doesn’t understand the meaning of the fiscal space that her own government has outlined.
“Sinn Féin’s plan for universal healthcare is comprehensive, it is costed and it is deliverable. And I am happy to debate this with Deputy Doherty at any time.
“However, I won’t take a lecture from Regina on the issue of healthcare given her government’s abysmal record in this regard.
“Despite a promise from Enda Kenny to end the trolley crisis in our hospitals things have gone from bad to worse and our hospitals are now in a state of chaos.”
