Stanley claims that Irish Water customers have no grievance channel
The Sinn Féin spokesperson on the Environment, Brian Stanley TD, has claimed that Irish Water customers have no means of making complaints about the company.
He was referring to a claim by the Ombudsman that the Government excluded Irish Water from his remit, which means that people with legitimate grievances can not avail of his office.
Deputy Stanley said;
“Irish Water customers and indeed public representatives are already aware that making even the most basic queries regarding Irish Water usually meets with a stone wall.
“The company is clearly being deluged with inquiries and complaints and simply does not have the capacity to respond.
“The fact that there is no recourse to the Ombudsman compounds that, and also proves that the Government is well aware of the level of dissatisfaction with Irish Water.”
