Lynch welcomes Executive flood prevention measures
Sinn Féin MLA Sean Lynch has welcomed flood prevention and alleviation measures announced by Agriculture Minister Michelle O'Neill.
Mr Lynch said;
"The announcement from the Executive today that the full £1.3 million will be spent on flood prevention and alleviation measures is very welcome.
"This includes plans to raise a number of roads in Fermanagh which will significantly help reduce flooding problems in the future following proposals put forward by my party colleague, Agriculture Minister Michelle O'Neill.
"I particularly welcome the news that the Derrylin to Lisnaskea road will be raised as it was one of the worst-hit areas in the recent floods when it was effectively closed for several weeks causing motorists to take a detour of up to 30 miles.
"This is one of a number of roads that will be raised as part of flood prevention measures. The measures will also include new pumping stations, which will be put in place as a result of this funding.
"This is part of Sinn Féin's commitment to ensuring that effective flood defences are in place and that those worst-hit by the flooding are supported."
