Health committee to meet suicide prevention groups - McCorley
Sinn Féin MLA Rosie McCorley has said the Assembly's health committee will visit suicide prevention and awareness groups in north and west Belfast to see the work they do at first hand.
Ms McCorley said;
"Suicide is an issue which affects all of our communities across the North and does not recognise any boundaries.
"It is a particular problem in north and west Belfast where rates of deaths by suicides have been alarmingly high in recent years.
"Each and every one of these deaths is a tragedy and all of us in society must ensure we are doing all we can to prevent further deaths.
"That is why the health committee has agreed to visit groups in north and west Belfast who are working day and daily to raise awareness about suicide and suicide prevention.
"The visit will allow MLAs to see the important work carried out by these groups at first hand and to learn from their experiences."
