Sinn Féin will keep its election promises – Adams
Sinn Féin President Gerry Adams TD has defended Sinn Féin’s efforts to put the abolition of water charges onto the Dáil agenda, saying that Sinn Féin were elected to do a job and the first part of that is to get a debate on scrapping domestic water charges.
Teachta Adams said:
“My colleagues and I were sent into the Dáil to do a job and we will not be distracted from that. A majority of people voted against water charges and Sinn Féin will do all in its power to get rid of them. If, in the process of that, Fianna Fáil is exposed then so be it. That is their problem, not ours. This is not about stunts, it's about upholding election promises. The mock outrage by some sections of the media and pundits highlights that they are simply part of the cosy consensus.”
