Adams backs people of north inner city
Sinn Féin President Gerry Adams TD this evening attended the public procession against criminal violence to the Monument at Buckingham St by residents of Dublin north inner city.
The Sinn Féin leader joined the procession in “an act of solidarity with communities that are under attack by criminal elements.”
Gerry Adams said:
“I want to congratulate the organisers of this evening’s community procession. This is a commendable act of solidarity for a community that has suffered significant violence and criminality in recent months.
“Four men have been murdered as part of a so-called criminal feud. The impact of this on the whole community has been significant.
“There is clearly a key role for the Gardaí in tackling this criminality but an increased presence by An Garda Síochána is not enough. The government has a critical role to play in providing investment in community projects, the creation of jobs, improving the local environment, investing in education for our young people, and providing support for the victims of crime.”
