McCann raises housing concerns with Communities Minister
Sinn Féin MLA Fra McCann has met with the Communities Minister Paul Givan to raise concerns about housing issues.
The party spokesperson on housing said:
“I have informed the Communities Minister Paul Givan of Sinn Féin’s concerns about a number of housing issues such as the broken housing selection scheme which needs replaced as a matter of urgency.
“I took the opportunity to stress the need to deal with the 1000s of empty homes in many of our older communities and the detrimental impact it has on the fabric of those communities.
“I spoke of the need for a new deal for home owners who lost their ability to tap into home improvement grants which was removed eight years ago.
“We need to find ways to give building powers back to the Housing Executive so we can effectively deal with the growing waiting lists which plagues our communities.” ENDS/CRÍOCH
