Boyle wishes Irish Paralympians well ahead of Rio games
Sinn Féin MLA Michaela Boyle has wished the Irish team success ahead of the launch of the 2016 Paralympics in Rio.
Ms Boyle, the Sinn Féin spokesperson on disabilities, said;
"The Paralympics are the pinnacle of world sport for athletes with disabilities and I'm sure everyone is looking forward to the launch of the games in Rio.
"I would like to wish the members of the Irish Paralympic team, and all those taking part, every success in Rio in the coming days and weeks.
"The athletes have overcome adversity and great challenges and, after months and years of training and dedication will now compete for the biggest prize on the world stage. They are an inspiration to us all.
"The Paralympics shows what can be achieved and helps to break down misconceptions and we must continue to ensure that people with disabilities do not face barriers or obstacles in sport or in any aspect of life."
