NAMA to appear before PAC on back of Spotlight allegations – Cullinane

8 September, 2016 - by David Cullinane TD

Public Accounts Committee member and Sinn Féin TD for Waterford, David Cullinane, has welcomed the fact that NAMA management will appear before the committee to answer questions regarding Project Eagle

Deputy Cullinane said:

“I wrote to the committee chair requesting that NAMA management appear before the committee and I am happy to say that this has been accepted and will now go ahead.

“The Spotlight report on Project Eagle has raised serious questions for NAMA and it is imperative that we get answers.

“Sinn Féin has consistently called for a commission of investigation into the sale of NAMA’s Northern Loan book known as Project Eagle.

“The Spotlight programme has enhanced our suspicions that somebody from inside NAMA has been giving sensitive information about that body to outside interests for a cash return.

“It is imperative that all transactions involving NAMA are suspended and an independent commission of investigation established to look at this issue.

“NAMA assets are public assets and private people cannot make massive profits to the detriment of the taxpayer.”
