Whistleblower inquiry welcome, confidence and cooperation essential - Mary Lou McDonald TD
Sinn Féin Deputy Leader Mary Lou McDonald has welcomed news this evening that Justice Minister Frances Fitzgerald has appointed a retired judge to examine allegations of bullying and intimidation of garda whistleblowers.
Speaking this evening Teachta McDonald said;
“The allegations of harassment and smearing of Garda whistleblowers are of the utmost seriousness. The establishment of this inquiry by Mr Justice Iarlaith O’Neill is welcome.
“It is extremely important that this inquiry commands the confidence and cooperation of everyone concerned particularly the gardaí who have made the complaints.
“I trust that the Minister has established that all parties to these allegations, have confidence in the process and will assist the inquiry fully".
