Martin Kenny TD welcomes reiteration of government commitment to renewable heat incentives
“Minister Denis Naughton, for Communications, Climate Action and Environment responded to my question about grant-aiding agri-food enterprises, such as chicken farms and mushroom growers, to switch to biomass sources of energy and to support them to do so.
“He said that preliminary work on the design and planning of renewable heat incentives is almost complete and includes a range of renewable energy technologies, like biomass boilers.
“The government plans to hold public consultations on the design of the scheme before the end of the year and I would encourage those interested to participate. The department’s website at www.dccae.gov.ie will have details.
“I hope that this promise will be fulfilled and that agri-food enterprises such as chicken farms and mushroom growers and other similar operations will be able to avail of the supports promised by government before the end of next year.”
