Maskey welcomes inclusion of Casement Park in Rugby World Cup bid.

Sinn Féin MP for West Belfast, Paul Maskey, has welcomed the inclusion of Casement Park in the 2023 Rugby World Cup bid for Ireland.

Speaking today Mr Maskey said:

“The inclusion of Casement Park in the Rugby World Cup bid for 2023 shows a huge amount of foresight and excitement for the potential that the redevelopment of Casement Park can bring.

“A successful bid will put west Belfast once again firmly on the world map, on millions of TV screens across the world and invite thousands of tourists and people from across this island to the west of the city.

"I have no doubt that a new Casement Park will help the continued regeneration of west Belfast and with such international bids being put forward the sky is the limit for investment and job creation opportunities for of west Belfast.”
