Sinn Féin Assembly member's home attacked
The West Belfast home of Sinn Féin Assembly member Fra McCann was last night attacked with ball bearings. The attack which took place shortly after 11pm resulted in outer panes of glass being broken.
Speaking this morning Mr McCann said:
" Last year a number of Sinn Féin members homes across West Belfast were attacked with ball bearings. Whoever was responsible clearly had accurate information on the addresses of party activists. Fortunately these attacks have diminished in recent months.
" However last night shortly after 11pm a number of ball bearings were fired at my home. Thankfully only the outer panes of glass were broken and the ball bearings failed to enter the inside of the house. This attack has obviously caused distress for my family and has caused a great deal of anger locally.
" Which ever group of individual was behind this attack on my home need to realise that they will not prevent me or my colleagues from representing the people of this area. We will not be intimidated by attacks like this. Along with the local community we will continue to stand up against criminality and against those who are attempting to intimidate and threaten this community." ENDS
