Sinn Féin call for ODCE and Ian Drennan to appear before Justice Committee after mishandling of Fitzpatrick trial – O'Brien
Sinn Féin Justice Spokesperson Jonathan O’Brien TD has today called for Ian Drennan, Director of Corporate Enforcement to appear before the Oireachtas Justice Committee to answer questions concerning the prosecution of Seán Fitzpatrick.
Speaking today, Teachta O’Brien said;
“There are serious allegations of case mishandling against former Anglo Irish Bank Chair Seán Fitzpatrick being made about the Office of the Director of Corporate Enforcement.
“As head of the office, there is a clear need for Ian Drennan to appear before members of the Justice Committee and explain what happened with this case.
“This was a high profile case that cost the State an enormous amount of money and nothing has come of it. The allegations being made are severe and public deserve answers.
“They also deserve an explanation as to what happened after documents were shredded and whether witnesses were coached.
“Given the severity of the allegations at hand, we will push for answers to these questions to ensure full accountability and transparency in the future.”
