Arkinson evidence a positive development – McElduff
Sinn Féin MP Barry McElduff has said news that information on the disappearance of teenager Arlene Arkinson has been made available is a positive development.
The West Tyrone MP was speaking after an inquest heard that two folders have now been submitted to the corner containing information from the Gardai.
The material is understood to contain information about lines of inquiry and searches conducted in the south.
Barry McElduff said:
“The Arkinson family has been waiting over 20 years on this inquest.
"An Garda Síochána has delayed it in the past by failing to produce documents or nominate witnesses.
“The submission of these folders will hopefully prove to be useful in helping the Arkinson family to get to the truth about Arlene’s disappearance and murder.
"I welcome the fact that Judge Brian Sherrard, who is presiding over the inquest is keen to avoid further delays and maintain momentum.
"The case has been adjourned until Monday 23 October."
