Reduced Luas services beyond Sandyford Depot unacceptable - Councillor Chris Curran
Sinn Féin councillor for Sandyford Glencullen Chris Curran, has criticised Minister for Transport, Shane Ross, for the reduced LUAS service beyond the Sandyford Depot towards Brides Glen.
Speaking today Councillor Curran said;
“This is a serious issue that affects thousands of commuters and it has been brought to my attention by numerous constituents.
“It was a mistake, in my opinion, to open LUAS Cross City without the new longer trams available.
“The current reduced time period between trams means that more passengers are being crammed into trams.
“The result is that LUAS trams are seriously overcrowded at peak times.
“I believe that Minister Ross and his Fine Gael colleagues were more interested in a Christmas PR campaign, rather than the provision of a service that meets capacity.
“The people of Stepaside, Leopardstown, Carrickmines and Cherrywood deserve better than that and Minister Ross knows this.
“He should now tell the people of this area when the new longer trams will be available and how much longer the reduced service will continue.”
