Sinn Féin welcome Queen’s University apology
Sinn Féin MLA Caoimhe Archibald has welcomed an apology from Queen's University for offence caused by the response to An Cumann Gaelach regarding a request to meet to discuss bilingual signage and the role the university could play in recognising the rights of the Irish language community on campus.
The Party's Further and Higher Education Spokesperson said:
"Following the meeting myself and Seanadóir Niall Ó Donnghaile had with Queen's University management this morning, Sinn Féin welcome the apology which has been issued by the Vice Chancellor.
"We also welcome the commitment to engage with An Cumann Gaelach and others on the issue.
"It is important to address the visibility of Irish language and we will continue to be in constructive dialogue with Queen's University and the Irish language sector on how to achieve this."
