Governments must clear a pathway back to Good Friday Institutions – Mary Lou McDonald TD
Today a Sinn Féin delegation met with Tánaiste Simon Coveney in advance of the British-Irish Intergovernmental Conference in London tomorrow.
Speaking following the meeting with the Tánaiste, Sinn Féin President Mary Lou McDonald TD said;
“We welcome tomorrow’s meeting between the two governments in the format of the British-Irish Intergovernmental Conference. This is a first step in the governments acting to resolve outstanding issues.
"Tomorrow should be the beginning of an intergovernmental process to address the challenges of Brexit and to clear a pathway back to re-establish the Good Friday Agreement institutions.
"Our agreements, which have delivered so much, must be protected, honoured and implemented. The governments must act to uphold the rights of citizens including the agreed language rights, mechanisms to deal with the past, and marriage equality.”
