Dillon challenges May "myth"

12 September, 2018 - by Linda Dillon

Responding to comments made by Theresa May that the legacy process is skewed against former British soldiers, Sinn Féin MLA Linda Dillon said:

“Just because you reiterate a fallacy it doesn’t make it true.

“During the conflict British soldiers killed Irish citizens with impunity and they now want immunity as well.

“It is all very well speaking to the green benches of Westminister but Theresa May would be better served speaking to families here who were directly affected by state killings and tell them why she believes state forces are above the law.”

The party’s victims and legacy spokesperson added:

“I would again urge the public to take part in the current consultation process on establishing the Legacy bodies from the Stormont House Agreement.”
