30 October, 2018 - by Órfhlaith Begley

Sinn Féin MP Órfhlaith Begley has said that startling new information on the murder of Independent Nationalist Councillor, Patsy Kelly will shed further light on the role of British security forces in his murder and subsequent cover-up by the British state.

The new information is set to be revealed to the public in an RTÉ Radio documentary later today, it also contains contributions from family, friends and the West Tyrone MP.Órfhlaith Begley commented:“Patsy Kelly was abducted and murdered over 44 years ago and the British state and their agencies continue to deny the family the right to truth and justice by failing to fully disclose all files held by both British police and military.“The latest information which came to light by way of a freedom of information request will be revealed during an RTÉ Radio documentary and is further evidence that the British state covered-up Patsy Kelly’s murder.“The Kelly family, supported by their solicitor, Pat Fahy are continuing to fight for truth and justice. I have also requested a meeting with Tánaiste Simon Coveney to discuss the case and hope that the Dublin government will listen to the family and help in their quest for truth and justice." ENDS/CRÍOCH

The documentary will be broadcast during RTÉ's Drivetime programme between 4.30pm and 7pm today.
