British government has no plan or talks process – O’Dowd

1 November, 2018 - by John O'Dowd

Speaking after meeting British Secretary of State Karen Bradley, Sinn Féin MLA John O'Dowd said the British government has no plan, no agenda and no talks process and are treating large sections of society with utter and complete contempt.

John O'Dowd said:

“There is no indication that Karen Bradley is engaged in any meaningful process to establish a rights-based society with accountable government for all.

“There is no evidence of a plan, no expectation of any talks process or that today’s meeting was anything other than a box ticking exercise.

“The British government are treating the people of the north with total contempt. Their actions are dictated entirely by their toxic pact with the DUP.

“The onus is now firmly on the two governments to demonstrate to the people here that they remain committed to progress.

“They need to bring forward a plan at the British-Irish Intergovernmental Conference to drive the process forward.”
