Belfast City Hall to be lit up for Irish Language Act protest - Nic Biorna
Sinn Féin councillor Órla Nic Biorna has said Belfast City Hall will be lit up with red light in protest at the ongoing denial of rights to Irish language speakers.
Councillor Nic Biorna said:
"Two years on from the courageous move by the late Martin McGuinness to call time on the denial of rights to significant sections of the community, Irish language speakers are still being denied rights and legal protections.
"The Irish language threatens no one and enriches our society and the Irish language community are entitled to protection with an Irish language act.
"On Saturday at 4.30pm, Belfast City Hall will be lit up with red light in support of the campaign for an Irish Language Act.
"I would call on all Irish language activists and everyone who supports rights and equality to come along on Saturday to demand an Irish language act."
