Kelly urges support for lecture to remember Pat Finucane
North Belfast Sinn Féin MLA Gerry Kelly has encouraged people to attend this year’s Pat Finucane memorial lecture which will mark the 30th anniversary of the human rights solicitor’s murder.
Gerry Kelly said: “On the 30th anniversary of his father’s murder, John Finucane will be the keynote speaker at this year’s memorial lecture so it is bound to be a powerful and poignant event.
“John will provide and an update on the family's long campaign for justice, including the British government reneging on a commitment to hold an independent inquiry into his murder by a UDA gang acting in collusion with British State Forces, as well as reflecting on his own memories and his father’s legacy.
“Gerry Adams will also be speaking at the event, reflecting on his memories of Pat Finucane so I would encourage as many people as possible to come along and support this event.”
The Pat Finucane lecture takes place at St Mary’s University College on Sunday February 10th. Doors open at 12 noon and the event begins at 1pm, admission is free.
